Abdominoplasty ("Tummy Tuck")

Weight loss, pregnancy, and previous abdominal surgery can result in loose abdominal skin and weakened muscle tone.  In some instances where significant weight loss has been achieved, the amount of extra skin present can create other health issues such as rashes and infections.  Abdominoplasty, commonly known as "tummy tuck", can create a flatter abdomen by removing the excess skin and tightening the abdominal muscles.

The best candidates for abdominoplasty are those who are at or close to an ideal body weight and in good health.  In addition, we require that you do not smoke, as this can cause significant healing difficulties.

The procedure is usually performed in an outpatient setting under a general anesthetic.  Light physical activity can be resumed after a few weeks, and more vigorous activity is allowed after six weeks.  Please visit the ASPS web link to abdominoplasty for more details.  (http://www.plasticsurgery.org/Patients_and_Consumers/Procedures/Cosmetic_Procedures/Tummy_Tuck.html)
